Death & Judgement

Heb 9:27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once — and after this, judgment —
Heb 9:28 so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of the many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

Amen! Just spectacular news. Yes, awesome news.

The Word gospel means good news or good message. The Gospel reveals the power of God to save to the utmost you from yourself. The law exposes the weakness of human effort apart from God to save ourselves in the least. Hebrews 9:27 is what the Law says about every human being “you are a sinner and the soul that sins must surely die”. Hebrews 9:28 is what the Gospel declares about that same human being. Notice how the bad news “Law” of Hebrews 9:27 precedes the “good news” of Hebrews 9:28. Law procedes Gospel because the futility of self-will must be exposed before The Power of God is fully appreciated. Well sadly I received a track titled “Good News” on Good Friday with the subject of Hebrews 9:27 as the supposed “Good News”

The Track was on the part of the verse that said  it is  appointed for a person to die once then to face judgment. And well, they stopped there at 9:27 and added a man made human effort solution and left off the words “so Jesus died once for all of us for all time”.  Again, they left all that off. They only left the potential for us to receive good news. But in the track it… well, let me say the lady was very nice to hand it to me. I was leaving Walmart and she smiled and said Have a good day and handed it to me. I wasn’t even sure what she handed me until I got my groceries in the car and looked at it. So I read it and I saw Hebrews 92:7 I just kind of laughed. I thought how ironic we just did a podcast on this verse. If the track would just included the verse after Hebrews 9:27 we wouldn’t have the dog scared out of us.

This kind, gentle God fearing, honest lady came to me with that half of the verse on the track. I would like to show you the complete  thought of Hebrews

9:26-28  “He has appeared one time, at the end of the ages, for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And just as it is appointed for people to die once — and after this, judgment so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of the many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

So we see the bad news first (man’s failure) followed by the good news (what Jesus did once and for all. The good news is all your sins were paid for and Jesus appears to you personally in the form of the Holy Spirit to save you from yourself.  Well after I saw what the track claimed might happen to me  ..… if that’s what she believes, then I say Thank you for giving me the track, because I don’t want to go where that track says I’m going. Somebody had duped that poor lady into believing only the first half of that verse and not the good news that was contained in the verse. I could not believe that they were misrepresenting that verse to her. They were scaring the bejesus out of her. Okay, as it is, it’s appointed for men to die once, after that comes

judgment. Okay, that’s Hebrews 9:27. But there’s not a period right?

There’s a comma. Then it goes on to say So Christ also having been offered once to bear the sins of the many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him. He’s not coming back in reference to sin now we’ve got the period. That’s the completion of the thought without reference to sin.

The sentence is actually very good news. It’s the gospel. But cut it in half,  what is that? That’s not the gospel that is just downright satanic. It’s sadistic. It’s just

it is it’s, it’s out of context. Without Christ died once and for the sins of all, without that you’re left to face the judgment. Okay, so what judgment? What is he even talking about? I’ve heard it said that there’s gonna be a giant video screen in Heaven and we will be shown all the bad things we did. Can you imagine that coming right out of the pulpit? And then what can pass the judgement? Paul makes it clear in Romans that anyone under the law will be judged by the law. What’s the score, you have to get like 85% to pass the judgment? Not according to James 2:10, or Galatians 3:10. They both say, what if anyone would attempt to live by the law and be judged by the law and yet stumble at one point of the law that person is guilty of breaking all of it. How many parts… one, one part of it, one and done one, and it’s over?

This passage says, you die, and then face judgment. What’s the good news?

Paul concluded that the love of Christ compelled him, because he was convinced

that one died on behalf of all therefore all died. So therefore it gives you the right to conclude that all die? Yes, so it’s appointed to man once to die, Christ Jesus died one time for all people Jesus did that in our place, and we are considered dead. Debt paid! For the wages of sin is death. So Christ Jesus died once  which takes care of the  “then face the judgment statement”. He died and took the judgment for everyone. He was the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world John 1: 27. Does it say anything in Hebrews 9:28 about referencing sin? Yes, without reference to sin,, with reference to sin ,,without reference to sin, wait, let me hear a second time ,,without reference to sin. If you’re listening to the radio, it probably will be with reference to sin. But if you’re reading the Bible, it’s without reference to sin. Jesus was coming in regard to rewards that he’s bringing with Him. That’s what the last verse in Revelation says, Behold, I’m coming back and I have my rewards with me. That’s what he’s coming back to at the end of time to bring our rewards. I’m just making sure that is what the Bible is saying? The Bible is saying without reference to sin, without, why? Because sin has been taken away. It sure would have helped to have the rest of that thought instead of just, it’s appointed, once to die and after that the judgment

And that “face judgment” statement is so prevalent in the modern day church. I mean, there’s all the Chic tracks that use it. The TV and Radio use it. They disingenuously just stop at Hebrews 9:27 it is appointed  for a man to die and face judgment. One out of 1000 goes on with the rest of the thought that contains the good news. But we’ve got a battle, you may think we’re beating a dead horse. But this horse is still living. This untruth gets propagated constantly …die once and it’s time for judgment. I bet you’ll hear it by the end of the week.

Okay, well, they can’t dismiss the next part where the verse  says He’ll appear to us a second time without reference to sin. Yes. Now I’ve heard that this is the second coming of Christ, the rapture. But in contexts, this really doesn’t fit that idea. It just  doesn’t. He says he’ll appear a second time without reference to sin. So no judgment of sin involved here.

Yes, he appears to us, he appeared to me, I know he appeared to you and I am He has appeared to the podcast audience without reference to sin.

We are going to look at  how he appears to us in the 21st century, because he does appear to us, and we can clearly see Him when he does appear to us. And just thinking about the Second Coming, as if it were only at the end of time ( that idea that is so prevalent in Christianity now) kind of puts a veil over the idea that he can appear to us throughout the day. There is so much that he does throughout our daily lives that the Bible is telling us about. We don’t catch hold of what the Bible is  teaching us because we think of the idea “He will appear a second time” as a future second coming of Christ, when many times the Bible is talking about appearing in us (manifesting) 1st John is a  classic example of this. I just want to say we’re not saying there’s not a future big event with Jesus, we’re saying this Hebrews 9:27 28  was not on this train of thought. In Hebrews He is not appearing a second time in reference to sin judgement because once was sufficient.

Bringing deliverance from sin is yet another of the many ways that Jesus appears to us and this is the subject of Hebrews 9:28 we have to understand this. This has to be part of our Christian understanding to know and believe and  live by this idea. I’m looking in First John starting in chapter three, starting in verse one “see how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God, and such we are for this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him”. Beloved, now we are the children of God. And it has not appeared as yet what we shall be but we know that if he appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is.  This passage is saying, he appears and when He appears, we turn out to be just like him, because it is Him appearing through us. That’s what this scripture is talking about Jesus manifesting Himself through us. And when He manifests through us, we walk and talk and act like Jesus would act, and walk and talk. It’s Him in us that is the hope of glory, ministering to people through us, you remember, Jesus said, where two or three are gathered, I’m right there in the midst. Well, when He appears you can tell. Do you remember in John 14, where Jesus says, Hey, you guys have I’ve been with you for so long? Don’t you know that if you’ve seen me, you have seen the Father believe in this, by the deeds that I do. It’s the Father doing his work in me. You have seen the Father, if you’ve seen me, doing these good deeds, Jesus is saying, you’ve seen the Father in me. And it’s the same for us, if you see us, behaving like model Christians, you are seeing Jesus being just like he was, and you are just like Jesus, because it is literally Jesus in you, appearing to somebody to give them words of kindness or minister in some way. Jesus is there  to do for you what you can’t do for yourself, which is to please the people around us and make the joy of our fellowship complete. That’s what the letter of First John is about. John says, I write this letter, so that you can have fellowship with us and indeed, our fellowship is with Jesus and His Father. He doesn’t want to fellowship with Steve, in his human nature, he wants to fellowship with Jesus and His fFather through Steve. John The Apostle goes on to say I am writing this letter, so that your joy can be complete.  You can have complete joy when you’re fellowshipping with somebody having now learned how to recognize when Jesus is appearing through that person. The whole letter of 1st John is telling you that no matter what a person says, if they’re not acting holy, they’re manifesting the nature of Adam, and not the Spirit of God, there’s about 15 different, separate examples of what it’s like to be in the Spirit or what it’s like to be in the flesh, what it’s like to have Jesus appear through you, or what it’s like to have Adam appear through you. But either way, you are manifesting something in the face of each and every trial that you face. That’s what the letter of James is about manifesting during trials.  The trial causes you to manifest either the Spirit of God or Adam’s nature. So, this type of appearance is very important to understanding the passage in Hebrews is not saying he appears at the end of time, because as a matter of fact, the Hebrews passage is in the  present tense.
