Defining Legalism
When it comes to defining legalism, it can be explained as when adding laws to God’s laws as if He overlooked something or needed our assistance. At Guardians of Grace, our work is to help with defining legalism and digging deeper into explaining more about legalism vs.
God’s grace. Our desire with defining legalism and digging deeper into legalism vs. grace is that you will know who you are in Jesus!
Our podcast and teachings focus on defining legalism and how people try to add to the work of the cross. Jesus taught people to look beyond tradition, convictions & legalism and find truth in God’s Word. In short, defining legalism is when people substitute law for grace and achievement for faith.

Convictions & Legalism
The issue we believe is not about whether or not Christians should do good works. But when it comes to convictions & legalism, it is important to know the how and why as to why you do good works and hold curtains convictions.
Through our teaching, you will begin to understand for yourself convictions & legalism and see yourself how God sees you through righteousness and perfection of Jesus.
It is certainly acceptable when it comes to convictions & legalism to have boundaries for ourselves in order to serve as a guardrail to keep us from sinning where we may be weak. However, when we take rules and impose those rules on others as if they were God’s laws, that is when convictions & legalism began to get mixed up.

Legalism Vs. God's Grace
Legalism vs. God’s grace can be summed up in perfectionism vs. grace. Grace is unmerited divine assistance and is a gift. There is nothing you can do to earn grace and it is not lessened by certain behavior.
Grace cannot be increased with certain good behavior.
When comparing legalism vs. God’s grace and defining legalism, convictions & legalism are all about good works. Legalism is about doing good things as a means to gain God’s approval of righteousness. It is important to remember when looking at legalism vs. God’s grace that Jesus completed that job on the cross.
